The Kingfisher Project

Our Mission

We are a community project on the River Poddle that aims to turn urban green spaces into places that support nature, food growing, learning and wellbeing.

We do this by:

  1. Growing an urban network of nature-friendly spaces
Supporting people to transform gardens and urban spaces into productive, biodiversity-rich environments through shared knowledge, resources and community support.
  2. Supporting learning and connection
Providing a welcoming outdoor space where schools, families and the wider community can learn about nature and the environment through hands-on experience.
  3. Protecting and improving nature
Caring for and enhancing an important urban ecosystem and wildlife corridor.
  4. Building community resilience
Sharing practical knowledge and skills that help people respond to climate change, biodiversity loss, and related challenges such as food security.
