Our Mission
The Kingfisher Project works with local people to turn urban green spaces into places that support nature, food growing, learning, and community wellbeing.
Based at the Kingfisher Project Hub on the River Poddle in Kimmage, we help communities reconnect with the natural world while building the skills, knowledge, and resilience needed to respond to climate change and the loss of biodiversity.
We do this by:
- Growing an urban network of nature-friendly spaces
Supporting people to transform private gardens and urban spaces into productive, biodiversity-rich environments through shared knowledge, resources, and community support. - Supporting learning and connection
Providing a welcoming outdoor space where schools, families, and the wider community can learn about nature and the environment through hands-on experience. - Protecting and improving nature
Caring for and enhancing an important urban ecosystem and wildlife corridor. - Building community resilience
Sharing practical knowledge and skills that help people respond to climate change, biodiversity loss, and related challenges such as food security.
